Hey! Thank you for reading the About Us page and in your interest on who we are 🙂
My name is Pi (well, it is the nickname my sister gave me when she was 2 years old), and I have always been in love with drawing. Especially with drawing humans.
I don’t know why, but somehow I always had the urge to draw heroes who fight for the right, characters that simply look cool and had some cool moves as well.
I remember drawing a scene in which a hero fought against a horde of attackers to free the princess. Sounds childish? It is!
Well, I was 4 or 5 years old at that point, but I remember it so well because I drew it at my grandma’s house and she had a couple of friends there who had a look at my drawings and told me that I had huge talent.
That was the moment when I knew that I wanted to do something that had to do with drawing/designing stuff, and I always had that goal in mind.
In school, I used to draw caricatures of my classmates and of my teachers and soon, everyone knew that I was the guy who could draw very well.
The funny thing was, even though I had some decent drawing skills, I almost failed art class. Lol, I heard that many talented people fail art class, so let me know in the comments if you can relate!
Still, I was on track and determined to make drawing my full-time job later in my life.
When My Dreams Were Shattered
That was until reality hit like a truck.
I was only interested in drawing humans. Not cars, not landscapes, not animals, just humans. Well, 12 years ago, there were not many jobs that allowed you to draw humans all day.
Concept arts and character development were not as big as it is today, and even if it had been, it was far, far away.
My father always told me to get a real job because “there is no money in being an artist”. Also, he told me that I wasn’t good enough to really make it.
Unfortunately, I believed him and was too afraid to go my own way.
I was furious.
My whole life, I dreamed about being a Mangaka (although I learned now that that is an incredibly tough job) or creating characters for video games. But suddenly, it seemed impossible.
My dreams died.
I got an office job that almost killed me inside. There was no need for creativity – just follow the rules from 9 to 5 , repeat that your whole life and you are good. Urgh.
Because I was so furious that my drawing skills were useless in what I considered to be the real world, I gave up on drawing completely.
I couldn’t pick up a pencil for ten years… until I started again.
I found a way to escape my 9 to 5 job and decided to chase after my old goals: Having a job that is related to arts or a job where I could draw what I want all day.
Why I Built This Website
At first, I wanted to build this website for rather selfish reasons. I simply wanted to reach my goals. I wanted to emerge in that fantasy world again like I used to do when I was a teenager.
However, when I browsed through forums and other art sites, I realized that I was not the only person who suffered from not being able to be creative on their job.
There are so many people who absolutely feel the same way. All they want to do is becoming better at their craft, create new things, and live the life THEY want to live.
I want to help you, not only for the sake of helping other people but also for helping myself. If I help you, I do the things I always wanted to do, always wanted to have: A life that revolves around arts (preferably drawing, I know, I know, I said it a 100 times already).
Why Should You Listen To Us?
You might ask yourself why I wrote “Us”. Well, I think that it would be very arrogant to think that only one person could know it all. In fact, the more I learn, the more I realize that I know nothing – just like Jon Snow.
That’s why I am building this website with other people who love the arts and creating stuff as much as I do. Some of us love drawing and illustration, others are just photoshop addicted, and others only do sculpting.
So should you listen to us? Probably not. I think you should do whatever you want. I think that is what art is all about.
However, if at any point, you feel that you need help, information on any topic, recommendations, or maybe even training, visit this website. We are here for you!
If you are feeling the same, or if you felt the same as I did at a point in your life, leave a comment below. Let us hear your story!
And thank you so much for visiting our website.
Also, if you want to work with us on this website, let us know who you are, and we’ll see what we can do 🙂
